Rosacea Skin Cream: Benefits And Dangers

by on March 8, 2009

Rosacea skin cream products are designed to alleviate the symptoms of the skin condition.  Some lotions and gels normally prescribed for rosacea sufferers are intended specifically for this malady, although many have been designed with other skin problems in mind.

When treating rosacea, products that could work include tretinoin (anti-wrinkle), benzoyl peroxide (anti-acne) and azelaic acid (skin relaxant).  Note the emphasis on “could”.  The main problem with rosacea is that you’ll never if a product will work - or aggravate it - until you try.

Of course, seeking a physician’s advice will help a lot.  With their experience in handling similar cases, they should have a pretty good idea of what could potentially work for your skin type, lifestyle and health background.  However, problems could occur, though, so make sure to return to your doctor immediately when you find that the current medication exacerbates the condition.

Many potent prescription-grade rosacea skin creams do have side effects.  Most of them will be minimal, which should be tolerable, considering how severe rosacea can turn out when left untreated.  In many cases, the best rosacea skin cream treatment has been found in products that contain the active ingredience metronidazole along with those that facilitate both anti-swelling and anti-bacterial effects.
